Johnno's Semillon
Wine
Tyrrell's Johnno's Semillon is handpicked from 1908 plantings of Semillon in Johnno's Vineyard, situated at the base of the Brokenback Range. The soils are light, sandy and well drained – ideal for Semillon.
These vines represent some of the rarest vines in the world. Their origins lie in the Busby Collection, a selection of grapevine cuttings brought from Europe to Australia by James Busby in 1832.
At the winery the grapes are immediately basket pressed. The juice is cold settled, then racked to a stainless steel tank for fermentation with partial solids to build the texture of the final wine.
Pale gold, Tyrrell's Johnno's Semillon is a textural style of Semillon, balanced by a citrus core, a soft acid line and great length. Cellaring potential is three years.
